What is the importance of Truth in our current society?

When you purchase a product at the supermarket, you trust that the people who sell the product aren’t lying to you. Truth telling is essential for authentic communication to occur, and makes genuine interaction between people possible. We live in a world where we communicate based on what people tell us. When we talk to our friends, family teachers and even strangers all we have is what they tell us. We can never truly know if what they are saying is 100 percent true. Another big factor is our news outlet, Internet and radio. We communicate through these and get our information through these people. We depict what we believe to be true and false. Now a days I feel as if people are more concentrated on what gets peoples attention rather then what needs to be heard. They are quick to give stories that get them attention such as Steve. People have become so selfish that all they care about is themselves and how they can advance in life. We see this in politics, in our media and just basically our everyday lives. We watch the news and don’t even know what’s right or wrong because every station has their own agenda. Its sad to see how our society is becoming as a whole and I know that it will only get worse. No one cares about the truth anymore.

Something Exciting

Something exciting that has happened to me would be that I was finally able to get a Saturday off from work and head down to Pittsburgh to visit my friends family. I have never gone to Pittsburgh before nor have I ever driven more then 2 hours in my car. It was a win win for me! I was finally able to experience the adrenaline rush you get when you go to a new place and of course I was able to experience the down fall of an adrenaline rush where you crash from how physically and mentally tired you are. Driving to Pittsburgh I was able to see lots of land, mountains, the sun setting, Penn State and an awesome jail! I mean come on, how often do you get to ride through a jail and see signs to clock all doors and make sure your windows are up! Im a simple girl and I love sight seeing so just the drive in the car alone was exciting for me. When we finally arrived to Pittsburgh it kind of reminded me like home. There are more stores, more people, more cars and just a lot more going on then what you see out here in Wilkes. See I'm a city girl, I was raised in Manhattan my whole life so Pittsburgh kind of gave me that home feeling. Now Pittsburgh reminded me of home but it will never be home. The streets are so narrow, although I think thats just a Pa thing because the narrow streets happen in Wilkes-Barre as well. But enough about that overall my trip to Pittsburgh was something new and exciting. I saw lamas, cows, horses, bulls and many other animals in the back of peoples houses. I think its pretty awesome to see so much nature around me. I look forward to going to Pittsburgh again along with many other cities and states! Just to think theres so much more I have yet to see!

ISIS attacks killing 30.

March 22nd, ISIS happily takes blame for an attack in Belgium. Its sad to see that every few weeks theirs a new attack somewhere around the world. Its becoming a way of life. Its as if no one is safe to walk outside without wondering, "Will today be the day my city gets attacked?" I understand ISIS has their reasons for attacking all these cities but the President along with the governors and other authorities should put more of an effort into stopping these attacks or at least watching out to see if an attack is about to happen. Theres no one to truly blame because things like this happen but its becoming way to common. I was reading through the article and it states:
"One of the two airport explosions happened outside security checkpoints for ticketed passengers and near the airline check-in counters, an airline official briefed on the situation said. The subway station blast happened about an hour later in the Brussels district of Maelbeek, near the European Quarter, where European Union institutions are based." These attacks have been in places in which there are thousands of people and where there are huge areas. Authorities need too have a more strict search to have these attacks limited. I do not want to live in a world where I am scared to go to work and live my everyday life. We live in the 21st century so there is no excuse for this I believe this can be fixed one way or another. I mean look we are coming to terms with Cuba who would of known this could happen.

H&M and Muslim Culture

Ive decided to pick an article that was published in October 13th, 2015. The article is about a young lady by the name of Idrissi in which she is from London. This article grabbed my attention because it is something different. The caption alone grabbed my attention because it is rare for an individual to see a Muslim women in hijab- which is a veil that covers the face and body of women. Now this article was interviewing Wilkes Students to see how they felt about this H&M's new ad campaign. One student believes that "Islam has nothing to do with it and it is not against it, but that me" while another student said, "staying away from modeling is preferable because it could lead to women following new trends of hijab..." I personally feel that H&M has done a great thing and its amazing to see new faces, cultures and traditions on the H&M spread. We live in a country of diversity but we also live in a country who is at times stubborn to change and is quick to judge. So I'm glad to see what doors this campaign can open.

February 2nd - Iowa Caucus - GroundHogs Day

"Hillary Clinton's razor-thin victory in the Iowa Democratic caucuses sets up a prolonged nomination fight with rival Bernie Sanders as the focus shifts to New Hampshire." says CNN

This is great news! Todays is February 2nd 2016. Who would of thought a women would even be in the election or let alone be able to speak on national TV. The news that has hit media is that Clinton has taken the race. Now to be honest I didn't know the true meaning of the Iowa Caucus. So before writing this blog I had to do some research. Now lets begin, The Iowa caucuses are the first time actual voters all across any US state get up and go say who they want to be president. This becomes a major presentation of the US as a whole. Now I'm not a big fan of politics but honestly to say I'm happy Trump didn't win. His ego is way to high for me and it gives Hillary a boost of confidence. Many people take her as a joke because she is a women and the fact she won gives me hope for America.

Now the second news that has hit us is Groundhogs day! So now one may wonder, "Did he see his shadow?"... or "Did he not see his shadow?" Well he did! This is exciting because the weather has been so off these past few months and knowing spring is coming early is comforting because maybe the world isn't coming to an end. But yet again maybe not because who would of thought we would of had a Christmas of 60 degree weather. Im so excited for spring and look forward to see how accurate this shadow foretelling is!
